A new affordable housing development is taking shape just west of MacArthur Park in Los Angeles’s Westlake neighborhood. The project, located at 668 South Coronado Street, replaces a small surface lot with a seven-story mixed-use building that will feature 122 residential units, 831 square feet of commercial space, and parking for 14 vehicles.
A compact multifamily project is on the table for 948 North Hayworth Avenue in West Hollywood, where Blackacre LLC proposes to replace three existing residential structures with a six-story, 12-unit development designed by 64North. The project site lies just west of Fairfax Avenue, a short walk from Romaine Street, in a corridor that has seen new housing emerge in recent years.
A new infill building is taking shape across from Expo/Vermont Station, where Wellnest is redeveloping a former parking lot at 1020 West Exposition Boulevard in Exposition Park, into a compact housing community known as The Nest on Exposition. Designed by Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects (LOHA), the four-story building introduces a sculptural silhouette to Exposition Park, marked by a rhythmic series of gabled rooflines and vertical bays. The project will feature 25 fully furnished apartments averaging around 300 square feet, alongside shared amenities including a laundry room, community areas, and offices for on-site service providers.
Beverly Hills could soon see a sculptural infill building a block south of Santa Monica Boulevard. A staff report headed to the Beverly Hills Planning Commission outlines a proposal to replace three small apartment building with a six-story, 29-unit development at 9945 Durant Drive. LOHA (Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects) is leading the design.
A large affordable housing development titled The Green is set to transform a Warner Center office site into a landscaped residential campus. Developer Elysian Housing has filed plans to redevelop 21155 West Califa Street with a seven-story building containing 316 apartments reserved for low- and moderate-income renters, along with two manager units. Koning Eizenberg Architecture is leading design work for the project.
